It was a
picture-perfect-post-card day in
Pasadena. The sky was "tropical ocean blue" filled with big
puffy clouds. The threat of rain put on hold by the Rose Bowl weather gods.
There was rumbling of thunder and lightning strikes were seen, but not
in the sky above, rather on the turf below. The hoofs of the Mighty
Mustangs were trampling all over the Bulldogs of PHS. And bolts of
lightning were streaking across the field in the form of touchdowns as
Muir blasted through the "not there" defense of PHS. 30
straight points were scored by Muir before PHS finally squeaked a score
with 3 minutes left in the game. And to add embarrassment to their
already lack of skill, PHS had a scoring opportunity slip away. While on
Muir's 5 yard line with 30 seconds left on the clock, PHS stayed in the
huddle too long as time expired before they could snap the ball. Ugghh.
A real bone-head play if ever a dog made one!
The Mustangs put on quite a scoring show. Blocked a punt or two and demonstrated to the everyone why they will be #1 in the league after today's game. Showing no mercy, the "Stangs" continued to go for 2-point conversions after each touchdown. On one play, the Mustangs scored on a 75 yard up-the-middle running play. PHS couldn't stop anything on this day. I think the only reason Muir didn't score in the second half was that they were too tired! The Muir fans just about filled our half of the bowl, while a spattering of PHS fans barely filled the center section. It was a good game, if you were not there you missed a great time! For the 5th consecutive year, the John Muir High Varsity Football squad has brought the "Bell" home! Congratulations Players and Coaching Staff! Good luck in the playoffs. We're behind you all the way. |
